• SUSTAINABILITY

Driving diesel powered campers around Scotland’s Highlands has obvious environmental consequences.

  • On average our customers drive around 90 miles per day which means that during a weeks hire an average customer will cover approximately 630 miles.
  • Driving 630 miles in a VW Camper will produce around 1/3 of a tonne of CO2 emissions.
  • Trees for Life estimate that four mature trees will offset one tonne of CO2.
  • This means that in order to ‘offset’ we’d need to be planting 1.5 trees for every weeks hire.

Since 2019 Wild Campers has been committed to supporting Trees for Life.

For every week of hire we make a £10 donation to Trees for Life which pays for the planting of 1.5 native trees in Scotland’s Highlands. Whilst we recognise that a camper hire business has inevitable environmental consequences we are committed to doing what we can to minimise those consequences.

Our vans are on hire for around 50 weeks per year in total. So each year we pay for the planting of around 75 native trees.

If you’d like to make an additional donation or see what we have donated so far you can do so here.
